Using Social Media - Communication within a team

When working on the Food for Thought Module recently, I worked within a team to create the final animation. My team mates were amazing with the work that they have completed, as well as keeping each other motivated to be able to great a high quality outcomes. We mainly used Facebook to communicate which was good as we didn't meet up for a long period of time unless we were timetabled in uni. Using this social media we were able to see what each other were doing, showing work that everyone has done and getting instant feedback on the work so far with what edits were needed as well as sharing inspiration and research that we had all pitched in with using Pinterest to create a research board that we could invite each other to add research to. We purposely made a group on Facebook so that only the people invited would be able to see the work posted and it was free to use.

We considered to use Skype as well due to it having the same basis with the use of being able to talk to each other however it had the advantage of being able to talk to each other via webcam. We didn't really use this due to Facebook being easier to talk and post on as well as people going on facebook quite often anyway.

This method of communication has made me realise what the communication will be like in industry, with waiting for emails or files from other people in the project you may be working with or even from clients. You need this form of communication to be almost instant especially with feedback and files that you may need to revise or edit.
